Members Series: Anna Maria Falcinelli

Tullamore Camera Club are delighted to shine a spotlight on our members, in our new Members Series. The first member we look as is one of the clubs newest members Anna Maria Falcinelli with “Magic Moments of My Life”

Anna Maria was born in Italy and spent 60 years in Africa and for 25 of those years she was a tour guide for Safaris in South Africa. Anna Maria has recently moved to Tullamore and we are delighted to welcome her to Tullamore Camera Club. All the photographs she is sharing with us were taken in natural environment – none of her wildlife images were taken in zoos, animal sanctuaries, game farms or in any “canned” environment. Anna Maria uses a 450D Canon with a 75-300 zoom lens. She always shoots in RAW to make sure all the detail is captured. Anna Maria bought her first camera in 2002 an Olympus 1.5 megapixel. Her work helped her in training her eye to see natural beauty all around.

Anna Maria showcased some of her work at one of our monthly meetings, and it was safe to say we were blown away, not just by the incredible pictures, but the stories and the storyteller. Enjoy a selection of her work below and dont forget to check out the full album at the bottom of the page.

Catch Of the Day

This photo was taken in the evening light while relaxing in the lodge after a safari. This is a Nile crocodile who was fishing. Anna Maria just got 3 shots before the meal disappeared.

Sticky End

This is a Mozambique Spitting Cobra also dining out. He has caught a chameleon in Kruger National Park. It was running across the road with his prey and a with a little bit of luck and a clean windscreen in the tourist coach she was travelling in, Anna Maria captured this very poisonous snake. They average length is up to 1meters when fully grown.

A New Beginning

The Giraffes meandering through Kruger Park with the rainbow after the summer showers lighting the way.

A stare in the dark

This photo was captured using the spotlights during the night safari. This male leopard has great eyesight even the spotlights don’t bother him.

African Sunset

This was taken on the border between Kruger Park and Mozambique – the sunset and the Giraffe silhouette are beautifully captured.

Brotherhood

These 2 male cheetahs have left the mother and will carry on living and hunting together while a female will have a solitary life until she has young herself.

Busted

This Eagle Owl was photographed with just a hand held safari torch to capture him at night. Recognisable by the very distinctive pink eyelids

God’s perfect work

Lilac Brested Roller – the most colourful bird in south africa

Lets Kiss

Two Zebras showing affection. A hunted group of Zebras will not flee in all directions but will stay in a tight group to confuse the hunter with the all the stripes

The Heir

This particular pack was about 10 adults and the Alpha Female had given birth to 14 cubs. The pack goes hunting and the cubs are left in care of the ‘’baby sitters’’ On the pack return they regurgitate food for the babysitters while the Alpha Female will feed the little ones. The pack has the same structure as the wolf pack
